PAC Med Biotech has established a unique business model that provides a format for our clients to enter into India on their own terms. Foreign companies that own, market, or manufacture novel life-science products have a sizeable market in the Indian subcontinent. However, to tap into this market generally requires an out-licensing arrangement, where the licensee in India assumes full financial and operational control.

An alternative strategy is for a foreign company to proceed independently by setting up a subsidiary in India, an approach that provides far greater business control to the brand owner. However, this is an expensive proposition and well outside the financial capabilities or strategic goals of most small biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

The PAC Med Biotech approach is to provide our clients with an opportunity to bring their product(s) into India without having to establish their own presence. At the outset, we establish a partnership with the foreign company to serve as their operational arm or agent. All key decisions are made in consultation with and approval from the parent company. We then execute our mandate in collaboration with our partners in India.

Our model offers an entirely different approach in that we operate on an additive principle, where all operational and financial control begins with our client and is then executed by PAC Med Biotech at the Indian end. This scenario is analogous to a company establishing a branch inside India but without the steep investment and myriad problems that it would face.

Given that PAC Med Biotech and its Indian partners are also making investments of their own in the venture, either in cost or in-kind, our model offers striking advantages. The total investment required by our client to enter India is a mere fraction of the subsidiary approach and yet offers far greater operational and financial control compared to an out-licensing arrangement. We believe this is the perfect solution for those companies who wish to enter the Indian subcontinent with a novel product under their own terms and benefit from the huge potential that this market has to offer — now and in the future.
